Herbal Dye Garden

One exciting aspect of the Ancestor Quilt Project is our work together with the American Indian Center's "Medicine Garden." This community garden project is committed growing only native plants. The Ancestor Quilt project has been given space in the Medicine Garden to plant natural dye species including Indigo and Bloodroot. We plan to use natural dyes from plants like these on the fabric which will become the "backing" connecting the quilt blocks together.
